How to Foster Connection Virtually as a Skillr

A big part of succeeding on the SKILLR App is honing your ability to form a connection with people digitally. This can take practice but there are a few things you can be aware of to make sure your Seekrs walk away with new knowledge and excitement for the skill you’re helping them with. Here are three key strategies for fostering virtual connections as a Skillr

Welcome them

You set the tone for each session you do as an expert. With that being said, it’s uber important to start things off on the right foot. In practice, this looks like exuding a welcoming, curious and non-judgmental attitude about what your Seekr is looking for. There’s no such thing as a stupid question in the quest for knowledge! So do your best to make the person you’re helping feel like their presence and inquiries about your skill are welcome.

Ask questions

While you’ll likely be doing most of the talking on these calls (you’re the expert, after all), it’s a good idea to make sure you’re asking the right questions so that your Seekr is getting the help or answers they actually need. In addition to helping guide the direction of the session, asking questions can help foster connection and make the session feel more like a conversation or discussion rather than a lecture of some kind.

Follow up

Following up can help you grow your client base and get repeat customers on the app. You can draft a quick 1-2 sentence follow-up to send to Seekrs after the session. In your message, consider mentioning something you discussed in the session, reminders of products or other recommendations you made, or inviting (but not pressuring) them to book you again in the future or follow along with your work on social media. Follow-ups are also a great chance to ask your Seekr to leave you a review.

With a little practice and some time, you’ll be knocking your sessions out of the park!
