Personal Branding as a Skillr
Want to make a kickass impression and book more calls as a Skillr? Building your personal brand in your area of expertise is essential to getting the most out of your business. Though there can be much to learn, we'll make it easy by breaking it down to a few basic things you need to know. Use these tips to level up your game and establish yourself as the go-to Skillr pro making that cash flow in no time.
Identify your audience.
In other words, who are you talking to?
What’s their age range?
What jobs do they have?
What are their interests?
Which social media platforms do they use most?
Get clear on who you’re serving and what drives them to want to do business with you.
Understand what your customers need.
More specifically, what do they want and need from you?
What specific problems does your audience have?
Where are their pain points?
Make a list of five to ten possibilities.
A couple of examples:
If you’re a dating coach, a pain point your potential customers might have is not having any luck on finding the right matches on dating apps. They're swiping right until the cows come home but everything turns out to be a bust.
For our chefs across the app, your potential customer might be struggling with their health and diet due to opting for fast food a few too many times per week.
Create a focus to solve their problems.
Grab that list you made with your audience pain points and, from those items, develop a strategy of actionable steps to solve those problems.
Think about what has worked for you and for others you know regarding this issue. What specifics can you come up with that you know will get them results?
That dating coach can help someone optimize their dating app profile in order to get the best matches possible.
That chef can help someone come up with healthy and nutritious meal plans that are also quick and easy to make.
In essence, your brand is what you’re known for in your industry by the people who need what you're offering. In their mind, you need to be that pro they know will be able to help them out.
If you don't know what your customer's biggest pain points are, ask them. Hop on social media and simply start posing the question. Trust us, they'll eventually start talking.
Know what makes you different.
The magic in branding yourself as a Skillr expert is being able to project to your audience what sets you apart.
What are you doing successfully that makes you different from others in your industry? Any insight or skills you have that are uniquely yours will be valuable and help you stand out.
Get visible.
Now that you know who your audience is, what they need, how you can help and what makes you a cut above the rest, it's time to put yourself in front of them.
In the beginning, you'll want to choose one or two social media platforms to create and share your niche-specific content around.
Create a weekly content strategy you're comfortable with and stick to it. Consistency is key. Repetition will keep you top of mind to your audience. The more they get to know you and what you’re about, the more they’ll like you and eventually trust doing business with you.
Bonus tip: Be patient! Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will your personal brand be. It’ll take time, so hang in there and your phone will be blowing up before you know it.
