What to Expect on a Skillr Call

Now that you’re a certified Skillr, you might be wondering how the call process actually works on the app. We totally get it! We definitely don't want you to be in the dark on this, so allow us to break down what a typical Skillr call is like.

Accepting the call

When you receive a call, it will appear kind of like a regular phone call. When you hit accept, your phone will automatically be connected to the SKILLR app and your front-facing camera will be prompted, much like a Zoom or Skype call. Make sure you have your phone positioned properly so they can see your friendly face.

Hello, hello!

During the first minute of the call, you and your Seeker will want to introduce yourselves and become familiar with each other. Take this time to exchange pleasantries as you get comfy and ready to roll. Prepare a brief intro of who you are and what you do, then propose a lead-in question or two in order to get a sense of what they need from you.

Directing the call

During the call, you’re the expert. It’s on you to deliver value and collaboratively guide your Seekr towards exploring options and possible solutions (for those that apply). Make sure you’re asking questions and understanding what they’re looking for so that you’re able to offer your guidance.

In essence, it's a friendly chat

No need to feel guilty if a little nervousness or performance anxiety creeps up either before or during the call, especially when you’re new to the SKILLR community. This is totally normal! Remember that a Skillr call is essentially just a friendly conversation with someone where you offer something of value, just like you commonly might have at school, work or while hanging out with friends. You're not expected to give a TED Talk and you can feel free to be yourself. As long as you show up as a human who wants to help another human, there's no doubt your call will be a success.

Be mindful of time

Don't forget that your sessions will be time allocated based on the needs of the Seekr. It's a good idea to monitor your time and the conversation throughout the session to keep it moving appropriately so no one's time (or money) is wasted. You may find that more time or another session is needed, and that’s fine as long as the Seekr agrees.

Ending the call

As you're wrapping up the call, check in with your Seekr to confirm they've found the call useful or if they'd like to meet with you again. Let them know how they can give feedback and keep in touch with you on the app and social media for future reference.
