4 Ways to Level Up When Learning a New Skill

So you’re getting your learning groove on with the SKILLR App? We see you, babe! Use these tips to get clear on your learning goals so you can keep leveling up with your new skill.

Set realistic goals

Learning a new skill isn’t going to happen overnight. That said, it’s important to set goals you can feel confident and comfortable attempting to achieve.

What does a realistic goal look like? That depends on things like how much time you can dedicate to practicing and learning, how fast you typically pick things up and how you learn.

Once you can answer these questions, you should be able to decide on how many weeks, months or years you want to give yourself to reach a certain level of proficiency with the skill

Stay consistent with a schedule

Consistency is key when it comes to learning anything. If you want to stay on track with the goals you’ve set, you should come up with a schedule for how often you’ll work on the skill.

That can look like setting aside time for a session with your favorite Skillr a few times a week or practicing each morning before you go to work. Whatever you choose to do, just make sure you do it with consistency!

Seek inspiration

Are there any Skillrs or people you know who have mastered the skill you want to learn? Follow them online or chat with them for a dose of inspiration. Seeing others who have come before you and gotten to where you want to be with a certain skill can help feed your excitement and keep you motivated on the learning journey.

Figure out your learning style

An easy way to start meeting your learning goals is to figure out how you learn best. Take our learning style quiz or do some research online to get an idea of what your learning style is.

You might be a visual learner who learns best using visual elements like notes, charts, books or flashcards. Or, you might be a kinesthetic learner who thrives through hands-on activities. Maybe you’re an auditory learner who learns through listening and detailed explanations.

Once you know who you are, you can figure out what study tools will best suit you.
