What is National Relaxation Day?
National Relaxation Day encourages Americans to spend some time away from work, unplug and unwind—something we could all stand to do a bit more. The idea for National Relaxation Day was spawned by then-nine-year-old Sean Moeller in 1985. Since it became a recognized day, the holiday has been celebrated every year on August 15.
Many people choose to meditate or do other stress relief and relaxation techniques such as taking a warm bath, going for a leisurely walk, having a spa day and more.
How to celebrate National Relaxation Day

Tend to your mental health
Use the day to take stock of your mental health, see what’s working with your lifestyle and self care routine and figure out any areas you want some extra help with. You could also book a therapy appointment, do some journaling or other mental health practices that work for you.

There are loads of long term health benefits to meditation. The act of sitting with your breath, your body and your thoughts can help you feel calm, lower blood pressure and ease anxiety.
